The Gold Key

I Personally credit this as the event that started my Film Career. It all started in November of 2022, when I was tasked to make a Short Film as an assignment for my Video Production class. At the time, I was not confident of my abilities as a creator, but pushed on with the assignment anyways.

On one cold, December day, my friends and I filmed for about 9 hours with my iPhone, having no real expectations for where the final product would go. After filming, I promptly thanked my friends (now film actors) for their time and quickly got to editing.

I found the process of editing the film to be very fun, as I had just recently been introduced to Adobe Premiere Pro (my favorite editing software) and it opened me up to a world of possibilities. I was learning new tips and tricks, and seeing how I could intentionally edit the film to not only add to the story, but enhance the viewing experience.

When the time came, I submitted the film and then quickly forgot about the whole thing. Winter break came and went and I was back in school, only to be shocked that I had won an award for my film: The Gold Key. This was a prestigious regional award that few would receive, and in my category: Film and Animation, I was among some of the best creators in my City.

What really put everything into perspective was the Award Ceremony I attended at UNR's Church of Fine Arts. As I walked onto the stage and introduced myself at Nightingale Concert Hall, I realized that this was something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life, and I have been going at it ever since.
