48 Hours. exactly 2 days, a short amount of time that could be used to do almost anything, for me, it was making a film. In August of 2024, I decided to collaborate with Caroline Branch once again after our recent success at the "Moon Rocks" Sci-Fi Short Film Competition. This time, we would be competing in the hardest film challenge in Reno: The 48 Hour Film Project. Like the name suggests, we only had 48 Hours to write, shoot, and edit an entire film, not to mention we would be getting our genres and required characters as soon as the competition started.

Through hard work, deep creative thought, and determination (plus the amazing performances of our actors) we were able to complete the film in just 48 Hours, a feat that few have been able to accomplish. However, the story of this nomination happens just after the 48 Hours wind down, another whole 48 Hours after the competition. In addition to our film, we were to produce both a Poster and a Trailer for the film within two days post-48. I, as the main editor of the project, put together the trailer, then submitted it.

Fast forward two weeks and it's time for the award ceremony, located at the IMAX Galaxy Theater in Sparks, the biggest theater in the area. Our films had already been plastered on the big screen a week prior as a part of a screening event, it was also the first time one of my films had been on the big screen. But now it was time to see who would win the over 25 awards that were to be presented that night, would we win?

Unfortunately not, but not without a surprise. Moments before the final award, 1st place was announced, our film, entitled: "Some One", was nominated for best trailer, which was shocking considering it was up against the two highest budget films in the competition, both of which would win 2nd and 1st place respectively.

While not walking away with any trophies that night, the nomination placed two ideas in my head: Number one: "I will spend much more time on my films that 48 Hours", and Number two: "I like making trailers!".

In all seriousness, I plan to win 48 HFP next year.
